History of Formation

In 1886, in Woolwich, London, a football club was founded by the Royal Arms Factory workers called “Dial Square”. Soon after, they changed their name to “Royal Arsenal” after receiving the patronage of the Royal Army. In 1913, Woolwich Arsenal officially changed its name to “Arsenal”.
